Who we are
We are a group of people, active in various local community organisations, who live and/or work in the suburbs of the Ōrākei Local Board and neighbouring suburbs.
Our aim is to enhance community connectedness.
Our members are active in many of the local organisations you will see in the Directory part of our website.
Our Committee
We are an incorporated society governed by a committee of volunteers.
Colin Rose, Chairperson
Colin is the manager of the Remuera/Newmarket Community Centre at The Community of Saint Luke church at 130 Remuera Road. He is also active in the Auckland Restorative Justice Trust.
Sarah Powrie, Deputy chair
Sarah is a member of the 2022-2025 Ōrākei Local Board (Deputy Chair), and an active volunteer in her community. Her diverse experience ranges from managing a small business to working as a strategic planner and community fundraiser. She has lived in the area for many years and is excited to support the commitment and expertise of our valued local organisations.
Terry Moore, Secretary/Treasurer
Terry is a retiree in Stonefields, active as a regular volunteer in Mens Shed Auckland East, Ellerslie Community Patrol, Conservation Volunteers pest control at Waiatarua Wetland Reserve, and Red Cross Meals on Wheels.
Don Cowie
Don is a volunteer at Citizens Advice Bureau in the Ōrākei Community Centre, and Chair of Citizens Advice Bureau Auckland City Incorporated. He is also an member of Parnell Rotary Club and Parnell Probus Club, and a director of Telecommunications Dispute Resolutions Limited. Don is retired and lives in Remuera.
Jill Kayser
Jill is the Manager of the St Heliers Church and Community Centre. Formerly a local resident with connections in Glendowie and St Heliers, she and her husband are building in Raglan, but Jill will remain in her local role for most of 2024.
Lucia Davis
Lucia is the Community Broker for the Ōrākei Local Board; a local resident who has been working in Community Development in this area for the past 15 years.
Bevan Chuang (they/them/she/her)
Bevan is a Specialist Advisor - Community Delivery for Auckland Council, looking after Ōrākei and Waitematā Local Board area. Formerly resided in the Ōrākei area and currently in Maungakiekie-Tāmaki Local Board area.
