Light the Night – Evening Bike Ride
Apr

Light the Night – Evening Bike Ride

Daylight saving is over. Time to dig out your bike lights and make sure you are seen.
Dress up your bike and yourself and come for a ride along the shared path from Mission Bay to St Heliers and back.
Meet 6.30pm at the clock tower. To make it a bit longer, we will start by riding towards the Tamaki Yacht Club and turning around in the car park there.
Afterwards we can either have a bite in Mission Bay or head into town.
We want it to be a bike party, showing people that you don’t have to take your car if you’re going out on a Saturday evening. It’s also a good chance to see what people are using to make themselves more visible at night and talk to others about their lighting.
The essentials are:
You need a bike and the attitude that you are going to enjoy yourself. Lights are essential! Everything else is optional.

Optional stuff:
A Bluetooth speaker and your favourite tunes.
A bike lit up like a Christmas tree.
An outrageous costume.

How it works:
We meet up at the start location and get organised and wait for any stragglers.
Hop on our bikes and follow the leader towards town, turn around at the Tamaki Yacht Club then head to St Heliers and ride back to the start. From there, those will kids can head home and the rest of us do what we feel like.

St Heliers Bay Village, St Heliers - Parking Changes

St Heliers Bay Village is a bustling and vibrant area, where locals and other Aucklanders come to enjoy the beach, eat some delicious food, stroll through the shops and get a fantastic view of Rangitoto Island. Auckland Transport (AT), the local board and the business association want everyone visiting to have a great time without worrying about finding a parking spot or getting a fine. AT acknowledges that parking availability in the village is limited, and it needs to be managed carefully.

To do this, we are proposing changes to the existing parking in St Heliers.

What we want your feedback on

We want to hear your thoughts feedback on the proposed changes. Have we missed anything? Your local perspective and insights are invaluable for our decision-making process.

How you can have your say

Have your say by completing the online feedback form below. The survey is open from 3 March 2025 and closes on 31 March 2025.
